Advanced Cardiac and Respiratory Diagnostics and Care

We recognize that peak performance starts with a healthy heart and lungs. Often overlooked, cardiovascular and respiratory issues can significantly impact a horse’s ability to perform. Led by Dr. Michael Porter, a board-certified equine internal medicine specialist, our team is equipped to diagnose and manage complex cardiac and respiratory conditions with precision and care.

We Diagnose & Treat:
Cardiac abnormalities – Heart murmurs, arrhythmias, and other circulatory issues
Respiratory disorders – Inflammatory airway disease, exercise-induced pulmonary hemorrhage (EIPH/bleeders), and recurrent airway obstruction
Upper airway dysfunction – Arytenoid hemiplegia (roarer syndrome), dynamic airway collapse, and soft palate disorders

Advanced Diagnostics:
Upper Airway Endoscopy – Visualizes the throat, larynx, guttural pouches, and upper airway for abnormalities
Thoracic Ultrasound – Assesses lung health and detects conditions such as pneumonia or pleural disease
Bronchoalveolar Lavage (BAL) – Analyzes cells within the lower airway to diagnose inflammatory conditions
Trans-tracheal Lavage – Evaluates fluid from the lower airways for signs of inflammation

Whether your horse is showing signs of respiratory distress, exercise intolerance, or poor performance, our team is here to provide accurate diagnostics and tailored treatment plans to support long-term health and performance.
