Emergency Care - Colic

A medical emergency can happen without warning. Whether your horse is experiencing severe colic, an acute lameness, a traumatic injury, difficulty breathing, neurologic signs, or another urgent condition, timely veterinary care can make a significant difference.

PHD Veterinary Services provides emergency care for established clients within 45 minutes of our Alachua County clinic located in Newberry, Florida. Our experienced veterinarians are equipped to evaluate and stabilize a wide range of equine emergencies both in the field and, when appropriate, at our hospital.

To provide prompt and effective emergency care, these services are available exclusively to current clients with an established veterinary-client-patient relationship (VCPR) within the last 6 months.

You’re eligible for emergency care if you’ve had:

A general wellness exam

Core vaccinations

(Optional) Coggins test

Or are actively enrolled in our Core Wellness Program

Maintaining a current VCPR allows our team to be familiar with your horse’s medical history and deliver the best care in urgent situations. A valid credit card is required for all emergency services.
